Clevis pins are flat head pins with a cotter pin hole drilled perpendicular to the body. They are measured by the effective length . Effective length is the thickness of the material being pinned together. It is measured from under the head to the hole edge closest to the head. Clevis pins are available in 1010, 1020, 1211 steels or equivalents. They are soft or case hardened as procured by the purchaser. Stainless steel clevis pins are also available. They may be finished plain, passivated, cadmium or zinc plated. Some plated pins are baked after plating to avoid hydrogen embrittlement.
